Welcome to Year 5!

My name is Miss Booth and I am the year 5 teacher. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Relton. This year is an important year for all the children as members of Upper Key Stage 2. On this page you can find out about what we are learning in Year 5. The newsletters will be posted here too along with our knowledge organisers and class text. You can also find our twitter page and follow the amazing activities we get up to.

This term PE will be on a Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. Your child will need to come in to school in their PE uniform, this consists of a white t-shirt, black bottoms, black trainers and the PE hoodie. Please ensure that your child does not wear earrings on this day.

We feel that school uniform gives a sense of belonging and by dressing correctly, pupils can demonstrate their pride in their school. Please comply with our uniform and jewelry policy.

Homework will be given out to the children on a Wednesday and needs to be in no later than Monday the following week. This is really important that the books are in as they will need 48 hours before they can be sent back out. Reading books and reading records are to be in school everyday so that we can keep up to date with what the children are reading, continue in school and change books frequently.

Many thanks for your continued support

Miss Booth

Our class text

This term, we will be reading 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell. This is an exciting novel, which follows characters Fred, Con, Lila and Max after their plane crashes on its way to Manaus on the way back to England. For days, they are alone and must survive the mysterious rainforest until a map is found, which leads them to much more than a ruined city.
