Welcome to Year 5!

My name is Mr Allen and I am the year 5 teacher. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Williams. This year is an important year for all the children as members of Upper Key Stage 2. On this page you can find out about what we are learning in Year 5. The newsletters will be posted here too along with our knowledge organisers and class text. You can also find our twitter page and follow the amazing activities we get up to.

This term PE will be on a Monday and Thursday afternoon. Your child will need to come in to school in their PE uniform, this consists of a white t-shirt, black bottoms, black trainers and the PE hoodie. Please ensure that your child does not wear earrings on this day.

We feel that school uniform gives a sense of belonging and by dressing correctly, pupils can demonstrate their pride in their school. Please comply with our uniform and jewellery policy.

Homework / Reading

Children are to read their reading books at home and return them to school. Any reading done at home can be uploaded onto the Go-Read App. Children will be also set Sumdog competitions for homework to help with their maths learning

As  healthy school and one that loves books, we ask that parents choose a book for their child's class to present on their birthday which will have a special named book plate inside.  Books can be chosen from our Amazon wishlist, which is also linked to our easy fundraising page, so double win for school! https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/1NXMGXSRIW9PF?ref_=wl_share

Our class text

This term, we will be reading 'Rose Blanche'. It is a story about a young German girl who discovers that not everything is a good as it first appears in her home country.
