Welcome to Year 5!

My name is Miss Booth and I am the year 5 teacher. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Williams. This year is an important year for all the children as members of Upper Key Stage 2. On this page you can find out about what we are learning in Year 5. The newsletters will be posted here along with our knowledge organisers and any other letters we may send out.

This term PE will be on a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.  Earrings need to be removed on these days, and long hair tied up. Please ensure child has full P.E. kit on these days.

We feel that school uniform gives a sense of belonging and by dressing correctly, pupils can demonstrate their pride in their school. Please comply with our uniform and jewelry policy.

Homework will be given out to the children on Tuesday and should be completed by the following Monday.  The children will be given a spelling activity, which relates to both the statutory spellings and patterns the children need to know throughout their time during years 5 and 6. Children will also either be set a task on sumdog or TTrockstarts to improve their knowledge of times tables or an arithmetic activity. Please ensure the children are completing these.

Many thanks for your continued support

Our class text

The explorer is about a young boy, whose name is Fred. As he crashes in to a canopy in the middle of the jungle, he is left without a choice. He meets three other children like him, but the jungle is a vast, untamed place and they are in for an adventure. Through this text we will be looking at a range of poetic styles, persuasive writing, letter writing, and narrative writing to name a few of our writing opportunities.
